the reason your fall campaign might flop

Hi Reader!

Every August I notice the same shift. Kids go back to school, everyone's back from vacation, and my inbox fills up with questions about Q4. New offers. New campaigns. Sometimes ads for the very first time.

There's a real energy to it. Fall feels like the season where small business owners finally get serious about growth.

But almost every year, I watch business owners pour money and effort into getting more people to their website, without checking if the website is actually ready to hold up to that traffic.

Here's the thing. Marketing's job is to bring people to your site. Your website's job is to get them to actually do something once they're there. Those are two different jobs, and most fall planning only accounts for the first one.

I like to compare it to a physical store. If you were about to run a big sale, you wouldn't just take out an ad and call it done. You'd walk the store. Stock the shelves. Clear the path to the register.

With websites, we skip that walk through constantly, mostly because the friction is invisible. Nobody tells you your booking button is three scrolls down or that your homepage still mentions clients you stopped working with last year. They just quietly leave.

So before you spend another dollar or another hour of effort this fall, here are three things worth checking.

Do your calls to action match what you're actually offering right now? Pricing changes, new services, and retired offers all tend to linger on old buttons and pages long after your business has moved on.

Is your booking flow actually easy? Walk through your own site as if you found it through an ad or a referral. How many clicks does it take to land on a scheduled call? I like three or less.

Does your homepage sound like the business you're running today, or the one you had when you built the site? Read it out loud like you're introducing yourself at a networking event this week.

I go deeper on this in this week's episode of Website Design Made Simple -- you can listen here: Website Fall Prep, The 3 Things to Fix Before Q4 Marketing Kicks In [Ep 141]

If you want a shortcut for this kind of review, I built a workshop called Stop Guessing: Audit Your Homepage with AI. It walks you through six ready made prompts for exactly this kind of check, plus a wrap up prompt that turns everything into a prioritized action plan. It's $27 and sitting in my shop whenever you're ready for it.

Is your website ready for the traffic you're about to send it?
