Helllo my friend!!! If you could only fix one thing on your website with limited time and budget, what should it be? Drumroll please... Your hero section. The first thing people see when they land on your website! Here's why it matters so much Research shows it takes just 50 milliseconds for someone to form an opinion about your website. That's faster than a blink of your eye. And the median bounce rate across all industries is around 44%. Your hero section determines if someone becomes part of that 44% who leave, or if they stick around to explore. When someone lands on your website, their brain is asking three questions. What is this? Is this for me? Can I trust them? If they're confused, they leave. If they're clear, they scroll and explore more. The hero section formula that converts Crystal clear value proposition. Answer three things in your headline and subheadline. What you do, how you're different, and who it's for. On my site, my headline says "A website that feels like you. And works hard for your business." My subheadline says "Thoughtfully designed websites for small businesses that value clarity and great communication. A process that feels good from first hello to launch.." Social proof right in the hero. This is one of the biggest shifts I've made in the last few years. Most people decide if they'll stay or leave before they even scroll. I used to put testimonials further down the page. Now I have a banner in my hero that says "13+ years in business. 100+ custom websites designed. Featured in Boston Businesswomen." People see that trust signal in the first 50 milliseconds. And it works. Bounce rates drop and conversions improve. Dual call to action strategy. Not everyone who lands on your site is at the same stage. Some are ready to book immediately. Others need to learn more first. I have "Book a Discovery Call" in my upper right navigation (always visible). And "See if we're a good fit" as a secondary button in the hero that scrolls them down to learn more. Clean, simple navigation. Five items or less. Clear labels. And never put social media icons in your top navigation. They'll click away and disappear into the black hole of Instagram. Why this one thing impacts everything else When your hero section works, people scroll down (the cascade effect). They see your testimonials, read about your services, explore your about page, fill out your contact form. When your hero fails, they leave before seeing any of that other great content you worked so hard on. I just worked with a coaching client who had a 70% bounce rate. We cleaned up her hero section. A few days later, her bounce rate dropped significantly! From one little change. What to do this week Look at your hero section. Is it clear what you do? Do you have social proof right there? Are there two calls to action? Is your navigation clean? Does it work on mobile? If not, fix it. This one thing will improve everything else about your website's performance. Want help? Book a website coaching call with me. In 50 minutes, we'll look at your hero section, navigation, and user experience, and I'll show you exactly what to change. Want to know more? Hi Reader! So...here's the truth. A few months ago, I wasn't excited to share my website anymore. My brand was solid. Logo, colors, fonts, all fine. But something felt...off. I knew I didn't need a full rebrand. But I also knew I needed something. So I invested in a photo shoot. What happened next shocked me It wasn't just new photos. Those photos triggered a complete refresh of everything. I placed them into my existing design. Same logo, same colors, same fonts. But the photos changed...
Hi Reader! What if you could double your client inquiries without spending money on ads? Most small business owners think they need more traffic. More visitors, more clicks, more everything! But here's what I've learned. The problem usually isn't your traffic. It's what happens when people actually get to your website. Here's the math Say you get 1,000 visitors per month with a 2% conversion rate. That's 20 inquiries. You could spend money doubling your traffic to 2,000 visitors. Same...
