Hey Reader!! "Jenny, how do I actually get people to pay me from my website?" And that's when I realized I talk constantly about creating websites with clear goals (usually booking consultation calls), but I rarely discuss what happens after someone says yes. Or what if your website goal isn't a consultation at all, but an immediate purchase? Your website needs to make it ridiculously easy for people to give you money. And the payment setup you choose depends entirely on your business model. Here's what I've learned about the two main approaches... π Consultation-based businesses (designers, contractors, consultants) need systems for post-call payment processing. After that "yes" moment on the call, you need to seamlessly move them from excited client to paid client. π Direct purchase businesses (course creators, product sellers, template shops) need immediate payment capabilities right on the website. No consultation required, just smooth purchasing. π CRM integration is game-changing for consultation businesses. Tools like HoneyBook (my personal favorite), Dubsado, or 17 Hats connect your website contact form directly to contract generation and payment processing. π Payment processors like Stripe offer incredible flexibility for direct purchases, handling everything from one-time payments to subscription models. For WordPress sites, I love integrating SureCart for seamless product sales. The biggest mistakes I see? Too many payment options (confusing!), requiring account creation (major friction!), and not testing the mobile experience (lost sales!). Here's the reality check...someone can have a consultation call with you, say yes to working together, but if you can't get them to actually sign the contract and pay, they're not a true yes. You're not making money. Your action step for this week? Walk through your entire payment process from website visitor to paid client. Is it simple? Does it work on mobile? Hey Reader!!I've been reflecting on this past year as I prep for my 100th podcast episode (can you believe it?!), and something really struck me. After auditing over 50 websites in 2025, I can tell you exactly what separates the websites that actually make money from the ones that just look pretty. It's not the trendy color palettes, perfect typography, or fancy features that everyone obsesses over. It's something completely invisible that most business owners don't even know exists. Most of...
Hey Reader!!Can I share something I've been noticing with the incredibly smart business owners I work with? There's so much talk about imposter syndrome in our world, but I'm seeing the complete opposite problem. What happens when you're SO qualified and knowledgeable that your website actually works against you? I call it "expert overwhelm," and if you have multiple certifications, advanced degrees, or years of specialized training, you might be experiencing this without even realizing it....
Hey Reader!!I just finished a website audit that reminded me of something so many of us struggle with. We pour our hearts and souls writing amazing copy for our websites, explaining how we can help and then... crickets. Visitors just aren't converting. That's exactly what was happening with Anne from The Fun Reset. She had compelling messaging about her group coaching for ambitious women, but something wasn't right. All words, no breathing room, no visual connection. Here's what we discovered...
